Expansion System for Managing Virtual Address of Host and Extended Device and Operation Method [abstract]

An expansion system and an operating method thereof are provided. The expansion system includes a host, an expansion device, and an expansion memory having a shared area connected via an interface. The host and the expansion device include respective mapping information and address management circuits to manage virtual-to-physical address mappings for the shared area. To ensure data consistency and access accuracy, particularly for code involving pointers, the host and device address management circuits execute a base address management operation to set a host base virtual address (HBVA) and a device base virtual address (DBVA) to be the same value.
